Reducing pollution from construction

The construction industry is a major contributor to air pollution in Lambeth. 

Actions in the proposed Air Quality Action Plan to reduce pollution from construction:

Planning policy - we will use the tools we have available to us in the planning system to prioritise air quality and enforce conditions attached to planning approvals to ensure that air quality standards are met on construction sites.

Pilot warning system - to ensure these standards are consistently met, we will pilot a system that alerts us to emission spikes from major developments which will trigger an enforcement response. If the pilot is successful, we will fully develop the system and use it at large construction projects across Lambeth.
